In Roanoke, where Duane's childhood was filled with sports and the honor of volunteering as a firefighter, he embarked on a profound journey. Botetourt Country has been a wonderful home for over three decades, where he and his wife have raised two beautiful and successful daughters.
Duane's commitment to law enforcement spanned 29 commendable years, but there was always another side to him. Woodworking, a skill he inherited from his grandfather, began with crafting a deck for his parents and gradually blossomed into a "weekend warrior" construction company. This enterprise touched upon everything, from fences to comprehensive home makeovers.
Post-retirement, Duane discovered a newfound joy in brewing beer for a local craft brewery. This enthusiasm persists today, as he continues to brew at home, embracing the intricate art of creating flavors.
In 2018, Duane combined his construction knowledge with his genuine desire to guide others. As a member of Virginia Association of Real Estate Inspectors, he understands the concerns and uncertainties of home buyers. From the siren's call of an EMT and firefighter serving his community with passion, Mike transitioned into a cherished role in law enforcement. Now, with over 30 years under his belt, he's the friendly face ensuring safety at a local elementary school, a position where he cherishes every interaction with the bright young minds and dedicated staff.
When he's not on duty, Mike can be found soaking in the vibrant energy of college football games, cheering for his two children who are making their mark at the University of North Carolina and Christopher Newport University. The great outdoors beckons him too, with family camping trips and serene boating adventures painting the canvas of his free time.
